how many hours are bought in advance
You have the option of paying one, two or even three months ahead. In doing so, the rates will be lower and I have assurance that you will be with me for that long. These are referred to as standard, tier 2 and tier 3 pricing. See below for more details.

How long the client has been with me
Once you have joined up with me, your rate is guaranteed for the rest of that academic year (1st September - 31st August)
As a current client your rate will not increase that much each year even if prices on my website go up. There might be a slight increase to cover increase in cost of living and so forth.
When will I have to pay?
Lessons for the next month are paid ahead. For example, lessons for September will appear on an invoice sent out on 1st August which will be due for payment on the 15th August.
Face to face lessons and travel costs
Face to face lessons generally take place at my house in Fishponds Bristol, BS16. However every now and again clients really would prefer that I go to their house and on these occasions I would have to charge for travel time.
In general I charge 50% of whatever I would charge for the lesson as a rate of how long I would have to spend traveling. If the total travel time is an hour, the cost would be half of the lesson cost. Mostly I will not be able to offer home visits even with travel costs as I usually will have a lesson right before and/or right after most lessons, but some lessons, (finishing before 3:30pm) I have a bit more of a sparse timetable.
48 Notice period
If I am given at least 48 hours written notice for a lesson cancellation or rearrangement, that lesson will not be taken off the bundle and the hours left on the bundle will not go down. If less than 48 hours notice is given, the lesson will be chargeable and come off the bundle already paid for. However, even if the student cannot make the lesson, I am available for that time and so could be used to make some video lessons as a replacement.
Price reviews
Generally, the lesson costs get reviewed during the summer holidays (August) and at the start of the calendar year (Jan/Feb). However, any clients already with me will pay the same price throughout the school year and will not experience the price increase in Jan/Feb. Only new clients starting after that increase will be subject to this increase.
Financial constraints
Of course as I am running a business I need to charge a certain rate to cover overheads and live a comfortable life, however I do occasionally give discounts to those who can make a strong case. Some of us are less fortunate than others and it is unfair that those more fortunate can afford tuition, whilst the less fortunate cannot. In a modest way, I can try and do my bit here. If you are struggling financially, please reach out and let me know and I shall see if I can provide some sort of discount. I do occasionally do this under certain circumstances.
